<h1 style="text-align: center;">Artistic Tour Program to learn Balinese Tradition</h1>
<p>Journey to the magical Indonesian island of Bali this summer.  Bali, also known as the Island of the Gods, is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places on earth. Immerse yourself in a land where spirituality and ecology blend together to create a unique and peaceful culture.  During this summer teen volunteer abroad program, you’ll engage with inspirational community organizations, explore off-the-beaten path places and enjoy the rich and vibrant local culture.</p>
<p>During this high school community service program, you’ll live in the BTS Home-Base in Ubud, a town known for its arts community, and where Elizabeth Gilbert from Eat, Pray, Love finds paradise.  Your days will be filled with adventures that include: working with local organizations on issues affecting Bali, leadership training to integrate your learning, and cultural activities to get to know the local traditions, practices and people.  On the weekends you will embark on such voyages as white-water rafting, snorkeling in the most beautiful waters in the world, and boat rides at sunrise to see dolphins!<br />

<p>You’ll volunteer at two different projects.  One is an organization that offers English and computer classes for underprivileged Balinese youth, and we will get an opportunity to meet some of the students and learn about educational issues in Bali.</p>
<p>We’ll also volunteer with Senang Hati, a BTS that serves the needs of physically disabled Balinese. Assisting the residents of Senang Hati will be volunteer experience you’ll never forget.</p>

Ubud is renowned for the arts, especially mask makers, traditional healers,dance, music, and other craftsmen. This fascinating village has all the comforts of home, but has a distinct essence that draws people from all over the world to witness its serenity, beauty and power. The GLA Home Base in Bali is a traditional Balinese compound with a courtyard surrounded by individual rooms. Students will share a room with one or two other students. Food will consist of locally grown, organic cuisine such as fruits, vegetables, grains and meats.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 1</strong>: Sunday &#8211; You will arrive at the airport in Denpasar where you will be met by our staff and taken to the BTS Home Base in Ubud, the cultural and arts center of Bali. After settling in, we will go enjoy an authentic Balinese dinner accompanied by a dance performance welcoming us to our new home.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 2</strong>: Monday – We will start this morning with an orientation to Bali and team-building exercises to get to know one another. A local village leader will come and talk about issues being faced by Bali and provide context to the volunteer work we will be doing. The afternoon and evening will consist of an opportunity to explore Ubud and free time to rest as you will still be recovering from jetlag.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 3</strong>: Tuesday – Get ready for the Amazing Race: Bali Uncovered! We will be breaking up into teams and learning more about the Balinese culture and traditions through a friendly competition that will test our wit, teamwork and creativity. This fun activity will be an all day outing, and we will come back for dinner to share our discoveries.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 4</strong>: Wednesday – After breakfast, we will head to a local banjar, or community center, to participate in many of the Balinese arts that have become to famous around the world. Local villagers will teach us Gamelan music, Legong dance, and woodcarving. In the afternoon, we will have our first leadership session, going over the skills and practices that will inform our learning throughout the trip. Our first reflection dialogue will conclude the evening.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 5</strong>: Thursday – In the morning we will start our first volunteer project with Campuan College. This organization offers English and computer classes for underprivileged Balinese youth, and we will get an opportunity to meet some of the students and learn about educational issues in Bali. The afternoon will have us on a trek through the beautiful rice terraces to witness the farmers tending to their rice. We will learn about how rice is grown and its importance to the Balinese lifestyle.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 6</strong>: Friday – Our volunteer work will continue, with a morning and early afternoon spent assisting the Balinese students from the previous day with their English lessons. We will also run a leadership activity to create lasting bonds with our new Balinese friends. In the late afternoon, we will visit a local temple and learn about the Balinese spiritual practices that are so important in their everyday lives.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 7</strong>: Saturday &#8211; This weekend we will head to Amed, which is located in the southeast corner of Bali. The trip will take us along winding roads and through traditional villages. As you arrive into this village, you’ll recognize long rows of traditional Balinese fishing boats ready for their morning outings. Our careful selection of your unique weekend lodge will allow you to meet local Balinese and engage in the traditional culture removed from the tourist attractions. Today will be spent enjoying the Balinese beaches and an afternoon hike in the valleys around the area. We will finish off the day with a beautiful dinner on the beach.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 8</strong>: Sunday – Wake up early to a traditional boating ride to look for dolphins in the beautiful waters of Bali. We will also go snorkeling and witness the extraordinary coral hiding below, a treasure to see first hand. After lunch at the family house of some local villagers, we will make our way back to Ubud. The evening will conclude with a reflection dialogue.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 9</strong>: Monday – Our first morning back in Ubud will have us teaching English again with students from Campuan College. In the afternoon we will continue our leadership sessions and discuss ways to practice our new skills in our volunteer projects.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 10</strong>: Tuesday – We will do a final morning of service with Campuan College, and saying goodbye to our new friends from this important NGO. A trip to a traditional healer will be an afternoon that you will never forget, as we get to experience the ancient customs of herbal medicines and health care. We will have a reflection dialogue at the end of the day.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 11</strong>: Wednesday – Most of the day will have us volunteering with Senang Hati, a BTS that serves the needs of physically disabled Balinese. We will learn about the challenges faced by these amazing people, and the ways in which they become productive members of society. Assisting with some of the daily activities of the residents of Senang Hati will be an enjoyable volunteer experience you will not forget.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 12</strong>: Thursday – We will continue with our community service in the morning with Senang Hati. In the afternoon, a visit to an organic farming center will have us learning about organic agriculture and new trends in Bali for sustainable environmental practices. We will have our reflection dialogue in the evening.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 13</strong>: Friday – This will be our final day with our friends at Senang Hati, filled with a celebratory lunch and performances. Later in the day, we will have another leadership session, concluding with a dinner farewell for students on the 14-day trip.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 14</strong>: Saturday (14-day program students) – For those on the 14-day trip, this morning we will be taking you to the airport for your departure. <strong><em>We will miss you</em></strong>!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>21-Day Flagship Program Continues</strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 14</strong>: Saturday – Time to wake up early for a white-water rafting trip down the Ayung River. This will be an all-day excursion that will leave us exhausted, yet glowing from an adventure immersed in the natural beauty of Bali.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 15</strong>: Sunday – This morning will include a visit to a remote village to assist Campuan College with their weekly Sunday classes for Balinese children. We will participate with their program and run some lessons with Campuan staff. Following our morning volunteer activity, we will make our way to Jimbaran Bay, a historical fishing village, which is famous for its sunset dinners with all the fresh fish<br />
you can eat!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 16</strong>: Monday – Our final week will be focused on a service project that will put our leadership skills to good use. We will be dividing up into teams and creating an innovative project that will produce lasting change in Bali. Each group will include Balinese youth that will collaborate on this project with you. Today we will introduce you to your teams and give you time to brainstorm the project that you<br />
will work on for the remainder of the week. In the evening, we will have a dialogue reflection.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 17</strong>: Tuesday – During the day, we will have the groups go out into the community and connect with local BTSs that will serve as resources for the projects. Later in the evening, we will set up a lounge for BTS Movie Night!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 18</strong>: Wednesday – We will continue working on our projects and preparing for a final presentation of sharing and celebrating our experiences. Later in the afternoon, we will have free time to enjoy some of our remaining time in Ubud with sports, swimming and sun!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 19</strong>: Thursday – The morning hours will be used to finalize our presentations, which will start in the afternoon. We will invite our Balinese friends from our time in Bali to join in the conclusion of these projects. To celebrate our work and to enjoy one of our final nights in Bali, we will go to a live music venue for some dancing and good times!</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 20</strong>: Friday – Our leadership sessions will conclude today with some ways of integrating your learning into your life back home, and pathways to action so that you continue to hone the leader in you going forward. We will also reflect on our experiences in Bali and share in the self-discoveries that made this trip special. Our last night will include a special farewell dinner at the Palace of the Royal Family of Peliatan (the village next to Ubud), an unforgettable experience! The night will end with a spectacular dance performance as a tribute to your time spent in Bali.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong>Day 21</strong>: Saturday – Students will eat breakfast and have a chance to do some last minute shopping in Ubud before heading to the airport for their journey home.</p>
